Carnivore un-friendly place. Came here to try the AYCE Veggie hotpot special they have, ends 9/6. Everything is DIY (Do it yourself), you grab your own personal stove (think Boiling Point), grab a bowl, choose a broth (various flasks, 5 flavors I think?) and then grab your ingredients. The single staff working the front runs around lighting the stoves. When you finish eating, you take everything to the side and sort it for washing. I'm not sure if this was the norm or just to help the poor lady trying to run the front alone but either way I followed suit. If you've read my reviews you'll know I'm not a huge fan of vegetarian places but for the special price it was worth it even if there's no meat. The imitation meat items were as expected, unusual texture. The worst item was the corn, it tasted like it was cooked then frozen (plastic taste). They also have 2 types of teas to drink (included) and shaved ice with various toppings for dessert (also included). There's a small sauce area but it seemed unnecessary to me since I had no meat to dip into it lol. P.s. there's a note that says no tipping required on the table

This place makes me feel so independent as it makes me cook for myself and makes it easy. I am now an accomplished chef. Obviously, it is a hot pot place, and for only under $17, you can eat all you want. Just be aware that they close every day 3PM and reopen at 5PM. The process is simple: 1.) Walk in, pay for your meal at the front, and wait for the staff member to tell you what to do next. 2.) Grab your pot, plates, utensils, and start assembling everything you're going to want in your hot pot and everything you're going to want on the side. I would highly recommend their fried noodles and tiny Chinese donuts. 3.) Next, choose your broth, which are held in labeled carafes, and dipping sauces, also neatly-labeled on the side. Once you have everything on your table, ask a staff member to light your little cooking station, and you're off! 4.) The way I learned it, you grab some ready-to-eat food, like the fried noodles, radish cake, and Chinese donuts, to nibble on while your hot pot cooks. Whatever you put in there is going to be amazing, supposing you choose the right sauces. My favorite hot pot ingredients were the pumpkin squash, taro chunks, bok choy, fried tofu slices, and rice noodles, with their flavorful miso broth and soy sauce as your base and dipping sauces. Considering how many healthy vegetables you're getting in a single meal and the unique and engaging way in which you're getting them, I'd say the price is more than fair. They don't even ask for tips. All they ask is that you clean up after yourself after your meal. So, vegetarians and vegans, this is your place! Oh, and if you're interested in learning how to cook healthy meals, this is also your place, because yes, they have that, too.

This sweet veggie recently changed to an AYCE Vegetarian Hot Pot place. You pay first at this place, and there is no tip since they believe in serving yourself and cleaning up after yourself. Monetary profits go towards a temple I believe. You can order one of 6 flavors of hot pot. They're already customized with whatever they were going to come with. If you want to try the broth, they have some on the edge of the buffet used to refill your hot pot with broth. I took a coffee cup and tested out all the broths first before I chose. I liked the Ma-La Taiwanese spicy with stink tofu (not stinky enough though!). The buffet station has a hot and cold section. The hot are some items you can put on your plate. I thought the vegetarian "popcorn chicken" was pretty good. They also have items you can put into your hot pot , like vegetables and various tempuras andimitation meatballs. There's self serve drinks (with boba and jellies/puttings etc.) that you can make yourself. There was milk tea and wintermelon on the day I went. You are welcome to ask for another hot pot as well, if you finish yours. They can also exchange the fire underneath your hot pot if yours runs out. It works nicely if you wanted to add some extra broth (and a few items) but don't want an entirely new hot pot. Decent amount of sauce choices for your dipping pleasure as well. However, don't expect much garlic here. This vegetarian place does not believe in garlic since it is typically an "amplifier" for "meat taste". No garlic for the sauce bar! I'll be back though. Very delicious and good variety.

NOTE: There's a card fee if you spend under $15. We came here when they were having their AYCE Hot Pot special. For lunch, it was under $10, a super steal. The ladies who helped us to order and brought out our soups were super kind and helpful because we obviously looked very confused. We got the miso soy milk soup (imagine a less salty miso soup) and tofu kimchi soup. Both came with a plethora of tofu, imitation meat balls, and vegetables. Not only did we get the hot pot, but we also had free run of their buffet bar. They had mapo tofu, curry, steamed green beans, vegetarian "sushi", and a plethora of other individual ingredients that you can cook in your hot pot. This includes udon, rice, and ramen noodles. They also give you the option of white and brown rice. For drinks, there's unlimited milk tea and winter melon sweet tea with any topping of your choosing and you can also make your own hot coffee or tea. At the end of your meal, you can also make a DIY shaved ice with their various toppings (condensed milk, coffee jelly, pudding, etc). We actually ended up staying their past their closing time before, but they were kind enough to let us stay without shoo-ing us out. Good eats, good people.

Tasty and clean eating. I've only tried the takeout and they have different options. It's best to ask staff because fried food goes into a separate container than regular foods, and wrapped foods cost extra. It can get a bit confusing. I filled my little box with mostly spicy oil bean curd and vegetables. It's a tad pricey for what it is, but I ate it for breakfast and lunch, and still had some leftover. Great for nibbling on different vegetarian dishes without having to cook yourself.

Main reason for 5 stars? Service. This might be ironic since it's basically a self serve buffet.. but I really felt welcomed and respected by the workers once I walked in. They said "welcome" in Chinese and had a smile on their face. You might be thinking "wow, you're easy to please." But good service comes a long way for me when I'm at a Chinese restaurant (because it's so rare). Anyways, besides the good service, the food was beyond decent of the price. I came here with my aunt and her two friends on a Wednesday evening (we went there on Tuesday too but they were closed) and the total price came out to be around $39.50. They were giving out two pineapple cake for $40 spent on a gift card so I went ahead and bought the $40 gift card at that moment just to get the pineapple cake (lol good deal because these cakes go for $2 a pop). The whole process was seamless.. one line, with a variety of around 7-8 hot dishes, cold noodles (with really good sauce), salad, two different soups, rice, porridge, a variety of 7-8 different side dishes, and my favorite... the iced DIY dessert. They also had really good black tea that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would probably recommend this place to my friends based on price and the fact that it's all vegetarian. 10/10 would probably come back again if I'm in town. One last plug, their pizza is BOMB.com. I wish dominos or other pizza places would make it like that.

I love this place. And I'm probably biased since I'm vegetarian, but my non-vegetarian friend did not complain, which means the place was good. Sweet Veggie is parked in a fairly small space, totally nondescript, and easily missed. But step in and find that the place is incredibly affordable and delicious to boot. Format: the place is set up buffet style, so you eat until you're full. You can also get a bento box to go which is cheaper than eating there, and it's filled to the brim. Food options: for the most part, the offerings are Chinese-esk. There is plenty of choices and all of the ones I tried were delicious and full of flavor. There are noodles (glass noodles?), rice, porridge/congee, tofu, eggplant, this minced mushroom loveliness, greenery things (possibly bok choy), fried mushrooms, etc. Dessert: these take the form of a shaved ice machine with different toppings. There are also fried sesame dough ball things that you usually see at dim sum. Beverages: there is water and slightly sweetened tea as well as lemonade. The people are inviting and they do not take tips, so they ask that you bus your own plates. That's more than a fair trade. That actually makes me want to leave tip.

Why has it taken me so long to come here?? I came last night with a few friends (one of which is a regular) to catch up and we were all shocked with how good the food was. Parking: Shared lot with plenty of spaces. Service: Self-serve buffet style and because there's no tip you clear your own dishes into the bins. The lady at the register was very friendly and helpful since it was our first time. She seems to have a good relationship with all her customers. Food: There's a great selection of dishes from vegetarian meats to noodles and soups to salads and even dessert! My favorite dishes were the bean curd with green beans, broccoli "beef", and cold noodles with peanut sauce. The dessert option was their recently added self-serve shaved ice machine with toppings like taro, mung bean, red bean, grass jelly, dried cranberries, condensed milk, and brown sugar syrup. So good! I definitely recommend Sweet Veggie if you are looking for a healthy meal option in the area besides Panera.
